does anyone know if computer software is tax free? I couldn't find anything on it specifically that the NC Dept of Revenue published. only this:

which would seem to suggest it isnt, but i feel like i saw somewhere that it was. im looking to buy an academic version of Adobe creative suite

They've defined "computer supply" and "computer software" as separately taxed entities as per G.S. 105-164.3

Quote :

" (4c)Computer software. A set of coded instructions designed to cause a computer or automatic data processing equipment to perform a task. (4d)Computer supply. An item that is considered a "school computer supply" under the Streamlined Agreement. "

However, some retailer may be confused and still give it to you tax free.
