You can't set yourself up like that. It's in the bylaws.

"I wish the chicken and waffles had come with syrup"

I don't understand this. The first time I ordered it back when it was after 10PM, they just brought it to me without asking.

Today, the guy asked me "oh, and do you want any maple syrup or anything?" as he's about to walk away. Thought it was kind of odd.

And if you didn't know to ask you wouldn't get it, a la your party.

...by the way, were you the four people sitting at the communal table with two MEN OF LARGENESS?

There's a salad on the menu now but I didn't know there was chicken in it.

Now I've had Beasley's and Chuck's.

I'm much more likely to go back to Chuck's than Beasley's, though I would not turn down Beasley's.
Dame's Chicken and Waffles in Durham is better, imho.

Chuck's was delish. I've been there twice in a week. I had the Spirit Animal and the Last Word. The 5oz. size is plenty for me. I took my boyfriend there and we got a small burger, a large burger, and split a spiked milkshake and the large fries for $29ish. That's pricey for lunch (even downtown) but not insane and we had WAY more food than we could finish.

The spiked milkshakes even have enough booze in them that you can actually taste it! We had a banana/peanut butter one with dark rum.

I will be back! The servers have all been exceptionally nice at both places when I've gone. My roommate's girlfriend works at Beasley's but I haven't caught her at work yet.

Once I go to Fox I'll have caught them all.

^It's so good! I liked Beasley's food-wise but the atmosphere at Dame's is a little more relaxed and more my speed.

I agree with what you said about the service at Beasleys. It was pretty fantastic when I went. I guess it's because we didn't get that douche tommy wiseau waiting on us. Just kidding, tommy wiseau...

I really enjoyed my meal at chuck's but its the same sort of thing as Beasley's. If you just think "Oh its only fried chicken it shouldn't cost this much" you're going to be disappointed.

Hoping that my sister will agree to take me here when I come into town over the Thanksgiving weekend. Fried chicken is everything special to me.

The Southern burger at Chuck's was way better than the equivalent burger at Draft/Tribeca Tavern.

Raleigh Times still has my favorite burger. I just like that huge slab of hamburger cooked medium rare with some pepper jack cheese and mayo. Simple and delicious. I guess I'm just not into toppings. I do like slaw sometimes.

A good burger should be treated like a good steak and be minimally topped or sauced imho.

^ Meh...I disagree. I mean, a plain burger using good beef and cooked to perfection can hold it's on...but ground beef doesn't really compare to a steak using high quality beef.

And a great burger with a slice of fresh tomato, crisp lettuce, good cheese of your choice, and a couple slices of crisp bacon is absolutely delicious.

True, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a single restaurant in Raleigh that is closed on Veteran's Day.

yeah, Meg, you won't find many restaurants closed today.

Unless they're run by vets or something, maybe.

i remember ruckus trying to close on memorial day one year because the bartenders didn't want to work, so, it's not completely unlikely.

lol. there's a major disconnect in the amount of employees who would like to have off every holiday, and the amount of restaurant managers who are willing to close.

I had the chicken and waffles again on Wednesday. It was good, but I think I prefer the straight up white-meat chicken.
