Quote :
"Good Morning, X-ers. Sad news for all Hair Metal fans, Jani Layne, formerly of Warrant, has died at the age of 47. Jani was found dead at the Comfort Inn in Woodland Hills, California last night. Janie has battled drug and alcohol issues for the last twenty five years. As the leader of Warrant in the 1980's, the band stormed the hair metal trail with huge radio hits like “Heaven”, and “Cherry Pie.” It was the “Cherry Pie” video was one of the signature moments in MTV’s history, and some say ushered in the era of Grunge and more serious music after the video alienated many rock fans. “Cherry Pie” was an over the top video, with sexual innuendo, and juvenile themes. Jani was recently on reality TV, and discussed his drug and alcohol battles frequently. “I have suffered some consequences from drinking that I’ve never suffered in my entire life.” Jani was arrested last year for a DUI, and had many run ins with the law in the last ten years. A toxicology report will be issued in the next week. Enjoy the “Cherry Pie” video! RIP, dude .

They are now saying that he committed suicide by listening to his own music

Because it's TWW.

If FSU goes to the SEC, there'll post RIP FSU with the Lone Ranger on it.

Ehh, I don't know...Warrant was pretty good.

I think it's a fight for 2nd place behind Motley Crue, and in that next tier, I'd put Warrant, Skid Row, Ratt, and Cinderella...and maybe Poison.

Uncle Tom's Cabin was great, but I never thought they were anything compared to like GnR, Skid Row, Mötley Crüe

GnR was a totally different genre.

Motley Crue has "most badass hair band" on lock. It's a fight for a distant 2nd place.

Skid Row is definitely cool.

GnR might've been a totally different genre to you, but those 3 bands I mentioned were my heavy rock shit in the late 80s

The phrase "Warrant was pretty good" should never be uttered.

Motley crue ftw, but don't make me go all vinylbandit about bands that were better than warrant in the glam/hair genre.

[Edited on August 12, 2011 at 10:47 PM. Reason : i will put warrant over winger because i fucking hate winger]

Oh, I mean Ballad of Jayne fucking kills, and they have a couple of other good songs that I'm drawing a blank on the names of, but didn't have a multitude of good songs like a lot of other bands did.

I used to have my Warrant - Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich tape on heavy rotation back in '89-'90

I kind of miss those days... pre-internet.. when all information in the world wasn't at your fingertips - where the only details someone had about a band was from magazines, MTV and the album cover I read and re-read about 100 times. I still remember 20 years later Warrant thanking some random girl they met on the road in their liner notes - something about cute girl with the red shoes. You don't have that kind of visceral experience with media anymore, and I miss it.

^^"never enough" was a pretty popular one, and you're right they didn't have a multitude of hits, but neither did warrant

There's a number of good ones with no hits... like i said, I could go all vinylbandit about this shit and dust off some random songs that were damn good.

oh yeah, there's a bunch of bands that had one hit...Faster Pussycat, Steelheart, Kix, etc. Actually, I can't think of any Night Ranger songs besides Sister Christian.
