okay I'll concede that.

That car with an EV motor is better than that car with no form of propulsion.

if it's not a manual naturally aspirated gasoline burning manual car with >1hp/10lb, a manual, and low fenders or whatever the fuck then it's complete dogshit.

he reads Jalopnik ok?

Pat,

you should come to FL sometime. You can drive my 7 while you're here. I don't a 7 could be boring unless it was pedal-powered.

BMW M5 vs. Cadillac CTS-V, Mercedes-AMG E63 S, Porsche Panamera Turbo

One launches from 5000 rpm, one has a Drift mode, one hits 200 mph, and one rushes to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds.

https://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/2018-bmw-m5-vs-cadillac-cts-v-mercedes-amg-e63-s-porsche-panamera-turbo-comparison-test

Supercar levels of performance from 4,000++ lb sedans... mind-boggling!

saying this car comes with drift mode is so... silly. I don't know what to call it. But it's not cool. You want to drift? Then just do it! You don't need a mode to do that shit! Man, these millennials are getting lazy...

Most surprising thing about that comparison is that Porsche came in last place.

Why surprising? It's the most expensive (by a lot) and the second slowest of the bunch.

It does have the best mpg and the biggest fuel tank tho

LOL... well, the car can be switched between RWD and AWD; drift mode dials in the perfect ratio of front-rear torque to enable epic drifts. that's how the maker describes the mode.

[Edited on April 11, 2018 at 3:18 AM. Reason : ^ the new RS6 (hopefully out this year) should be epic, similar to M5 and E63]

If money was no object, would you spend 700K (yes, 700) on this:

https://www.motor1.com/news/240796/porsche-911-turbo-s-sale

I guess that depends on whether you are an extreme Porschephile or not. It is rare and gorgeous and pristine, but damn, you would need to be at the very right tail end of the distribution to fork out 700K on that!

Fresh paint job? Check.

Fresh inside? Check.

Is the outside frame and the trunk wide? Yes.

Are the rims big? What?

Do it ride good? Good. Lean back, right hand on the pinewood.

Not a big fan of domestics but that one would be an exception. My friend's 5.0 felt faster than his Corvette did - I can't imagine how that one pulls.

Selling my 335i after 6 years - hate to lose the manual transmission but I need something more reliable/less to fix and the 435's just don't seem to be rated that well.

Looking at getting an Acura RDX.

So your reason to sell a fast sporty coupe is reliability, but you're looking to replace it with a snooze-mobile? Something's not adding up

I didn't see the emphasis on CAR when I posted

Quote :
"it's a strange transition without a stated use case"

I had originally typed a lot but long story short is that it's starting to fall apart due to age, which is fine, but I need to get rid of it before more major repairs hit. I'm really picky about cars and if I'm going to drive a car I won't settle for an automatic, which severely limits my selection. I feel like it would also be hard to step out of the luxury class without feel like I took a step back.

My first thought was to get a 435i manual coupe but reading consumer reports and the like, it seems like there are still a lot of questions on their reliability. They're also pretty rare and would probably need to be shipped natinoally, which isn't the end of the world but isn't ideal. I also bought a house recently and being single, etc. it makes more sense to have an SUV anyway. I'd also love an Audi TT-RS but it's slightly out of my price range and kind of compounds the problem with being practical with a house to take care of.

I'd love to come back to a 435i whenever they get it a bit more dependable - maybe I'll be in a place in life where I can arrange a European delivery
