The past few years have been hell on my ears. I still pick up high frequencies and a lot of quiet noise, but I can't hear people talk to save my life. It's gotten to where I constantly have to ask people to repeat themselves or speak up.

How about you?

Oh, and god forbid you try to talk to me on a cellphone if its not on speaker. That's just a lost cause.

You can't say that without stories.

I get mine checked every year at my flight physical. It's actually very good still...like, better than average in most frequency ranges. I'm a little surprised, given all the time I've spent driving convertibles, riding motorcycles, shooting guns, playing electric guitars, flying and working around jets, etc. I'm pretty good about wearing earplugs (except when playing guitar or driving convertibles--I even wear them on the motorcycle to block the wind noise), but I'm still surprised that i don't have at least a little loss.

^ that really is surprising

The fact that I'm good with everything but speech bothers me, but everyone in my family other than my grandmother has gone almost deaf in their old age. Oh joy.

I wonder if that's actually a processing issue...like, it's in your brain, not your ears.

Mainly good, but because I spent so much of high school and college at punk rock shows, and stood next to the drumline in high school, my high frequencies are pretty shot. I also can't pick up soft female speakers very well.
