serena williams could have gracefully lost and represent the US during this international event. nope she has to blabber this shit after losing: "I hit a winner, but I guess it didn't count"

She clearly yelled come on way before the ball got there, then chewed the umpire out who wasn't even the same one that she thought was, and then afterwords says she can't remember what she says. Pathetic loser.

i mean, her actions were worthy, but that's about it. i enjoyed the "unattractive person on the inside" bit. still makin me lol. she should just get ridiculed publicly about it and that's about it. I understand her feelings, as she pretty clearly hit a winner, while stosa managed to miraculously get a racket on it. letter of the law, sure. doesn't change how she felt, and to uphold that on a break point was kind of a bad idea. should have done a let and called it a day. also, she should have better controlled herself, though I imagine she did a pretty good job as it was.

has there ever been a #1 in the world with worse body language than djokovic. every match he plays he looks like he's going to break down a la richie tenenbaum after every lost point; like he has no idea how to get back in it; dude needs some cock and balls.

nadal must be insanely frustrated. he is pounding it and djokovic isn't even phased. he's having to hit some of the most insane shots i've seen in a while just to get a few winners. this is really some good quality tennis. VAMOS RAFA

one thing good about tennis= the championship moments, other sports you only get one a year and it's more interesting with just one guy each time

I wonder if novak is going to start drag rafa down like rafa did to roger, interestingly roger is a lot better vs novak lately, i also wonder if this yr is somewhat of a fluke or not for novak, seems like you can't be this hot too long

did not see the serena match either but I'm not surprised it finally took a gal with a bit of muscle and strength on her to knock serena out

That was such a great match. Anybody watching that would have really thought that Nadal would have taken the 4th with the momentum he had. That medical time out really took the crowd out of it and Novak regained control.

What I found amazing was even though Djokovic was only hitting 100mph serves in the 4th, he was putting them on the money. Something Nadal couldn't do all match. Usually Nadal is in the 120s, but his serve hurt him yesterday.

^I love that kind of tennis. It's fun to see it 4 times a year. My wife even gets into it and she's not much of a sports person.

mens tennis had a long stretch there where these long massively physical rallies never happened. pete sampras / patrick rafter / federer early on, were kings at ending points in 2 shots so we never got to see these points drag out with such pace. trying not to be biased at all but this was the best match for groundstrokes i've seen in my life.

^ there's some truth to that, however Nadal was hitting so many short balls. That I think is the main reason novak got the W. Don't forget the match Nadal had against Roddick where the opposite was true. In the match Roddick was hitting a ton of short ball and Nadal was hitting deep passes.

The reason Djokovic got the win is because the tennis season is too long and the guys are tired by the time the US Open rolls around. Nadal plays such a physical game that he's really worn down right now.

Additionally, Djokovic is playing solid and had the mental momentum from his recent wins. He's too good right now. And Nadal needs a break.

^^ No offense, but it's true. They get a month or two off between Masters and the Australian Open. It's a tough schedule.

Djokovic is a great player. And Rafa was injured during this year's Australian Open. He needs more time to recover because his game isn't really efficient.

Rafa may have been injured during the Aussie, but they didn't play there. Novak also beat Rafa twice on clay this year...I'd say it's more than the season being long as "the reason Djokovic got the win."

Not saying the season isn't too long...just saying Novak just completed one of the all time great seasons, one that is more than just a byproduct of the season being long.

IMO, it doesn't really matter if they didn't play there ... it's simply an indicator that Rafa started the season injured and most likely did not fully recover. And it's hard to play at your best if you start out injured.

That's not saying anything bad about Djokovic. He's the best player on tour this year. He's lost twice. Pretty amazing.

no offense, but i didn't say it's not true. no offense, but i know it's true, as does everyone else who watched any round of the us open, b/c the commentators mentioned it only about once per game. no offense, but i think i was about as clear about that as i could have been. and no offense, but i do not give a fuck who you live w/.

Honestly, nadal is going to comeback furiously in the spring and rip the Australian open to shreds. You saw a preview of his ass kicking in the third set. He has not peaked. He's injured. Plain and simple.

i have no prediction of the future "man to beat" in tennis. seriously.

federer is aging but shows moments of his champions edge still, but also moments of CHOKE
nadal is wearing down physically and some seem to have a read on his game more so than ever
murray is a consistent semi finalist but shows nothing that can allow us to say he'll win a final
djokabitch had a great year, but it just felt like a great year and that's all... still gets hurt and retires a lot. he stayed away from that so he was successful, still fucking hate him

as far as the field too the only prediction i'll make is that there will be one surprise in one grand slam (dolgopolov looked really good except mentally, or tsonga by pure draw luck, or even del potro if returned to form)
