"August 25, 2011

To All Residents:

As you may know, it is Hurricane Season and there is potential that Hurricane Irene may reach North Carolina in the next few days. We are requesting that all of our residents participate in preparing our community for the upcoming adverse weather conditions.

Ø PLEASE REMOVE ALL ITEMS FROM YOUR FRONT DOOR, PATIO AREA, BREEZEWAYS, HALLWAYS AND WALKWAYS. These items could become hazards if left out during strong winds. If you know that one of your neighbors is away, please contact the management office so that arrangements can be made to move their items.
Ø MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE AN ADEQUATE SUPPLY OF CANNED GOODS, BOTTLED WATER AND BATTERIES. Flashlights and battery-operated radios are good to have on hand. If you have no bottled water on hand, fill a bathtub or sink with fresh water. (Even if you do have bottled water, you may want to fill up the bathtub to have water on hand to flush your toilet if needed.) You may also want to ensure that you have a full tank of gas in your vehicle(s) and extra prescription medicines on hand, if applicable.
Ø PLEASE DO NOT USE THE POOL AREAS, RACQUETBALL COURTS, LAUNDRY ROOMS, ETC. AT THIS TIME.
Ø IF YOU HAVE A BOAT, TRAILER, OR OTHER VEHICLE, PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THE COVER IS SECURED OR REMOVED.
Ø MAKE NECESSARY ACCOMODATIONS FOR ANY PETS.

IF A HURRICANE SHOULD OCCUR, take cover in an interior hallway or room with few or no windows. The safest place is in the center of the building in a small room such as a closet or bathroom.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PROMPT ATTENTION TO THESE ITEMS.

To me, it seems odd that they would choose the wording "if a hurricane should occur". Like ones just gonna spontaneously form over Raleigh.

maybe they copied a statement about tornadoes and changed the wording

tampons are also good to stuff in bullet wounds after your post-apocalyptic gun battle

not really, you dont really want to do that with tampons, some have some kind of anticoagulant stuff to them, causes you to bleed more

damn. I knew buying a freezer full of ice cream was a bad idea...

Once, a family friend down in Florida had 2 freezer chests full of Omaha steaks and ended up hosted a kickass neighborhood party in the wake of a cat 4 hurricane. Although, this happened in the 80's. doubt anyone would be that friendly now.

where's that youtube video of a windsurfer who tried to ride the waves during a hurricane and got picked up by a big gust, travels over quite a few buildings and smacked on the side of a house. I looked bad, but damn, that was funny as hell.

maybe you are dumb. you do the same thing in a hurricane as you would in any windstorm and a lot of the wind damage from hurricanes comes from tornadoes.
