It upsets me that people consistently turn a blind eye to the ludicrous amount of innocents dying overseas, but will shed a tear over a mourning dog. Not that this isn't a sad story. 8/25/2011 10:18:40 PM

137,000 people die every day... or was that per minute? I can't recall. We are fucked anyways. 8/25/2011 10:25:43 PM

this might be kind of fucked up, but honestly while i completely feel for the fallen seal and respect and appreciate what he did for our country (a lot more than his dog), i dont shed a tear, cause thats how i am
but seeing his dog be loyal after his death comes closer to my eyes getting teary than learning about the actual death itself 8/25/2011 10:25:51 PM

I mean.. a dog... that we previously viewed as a sub-human animal portraying understanding and complicated emotions in a situation we normally wouldn't expect a dog to comprehend, is kind of special. 8/25/2011 10:31:19 PM

hearing about someone's personal life allows you to relate to them, which is why people can ignore an air strike killing 15 schoolchildren, but tear up over one dude and his dog. 8/25/2011 10:34:52 PM

Even the simplest of brains understand companionship and death. The dog just embodies the emotion everyone else is too afraid to let out. I also don't think it's coincidence that my grandfathers remains are buried under the same tree his favorite dog is buried either. 8/26/2011 12:16:43 AM

When I was a kid I had a cat that would wait for me at the bus stop every afternoon. She was rad Bet she would have hung out at my casket at my funeral but she died before me 8/26/2011 8:48:36 AM

Every time I hear/see a comment like this the first thing that comes to mind is this scene from Independence Day:
