A chicken entree, unless its really fancy. Chicken is for at home dining. When I go out, I want something better.

Not as a main course, but you're screwing yourself if you abstain from some bisques and chowders at some places along the coast

Good luck cooking that shit up at home

^Right. I should have been more clear...I love clam chowder and crab or lobster bisque. But I wouldn't order any kind of ordinary soup (like the stuff at Olive Garden, pretty much) from a restaurant.

Why would you order soup anyways? Soup isn't a meal. I mean maybe if you crumbled some crackers in it, it could be considered a meal...

I usually don't eat anything that's not in the name of the place.

Like... if I go to a pizza place... i'll order pizza
if I go to a steak place... i'll order steak

but I won't ever touch steak if I go to a breakfast place like dennys or Ihop. Fuck. That.
I'd never order pizza from cheeseburger in paradise

etc...

I know what you're saying. On the other hand, a quality basic dish is usually a good sign that other things coming out of the kitchen are going to be good.

Would it be too much to ask you people to include a reason?

I dont mind ordering stuff at a restaurant that I can cook at home for two reasons:

A) I like to check out the competition.

B) On the off chance I might find something I'd like to incorporate into my recipe.

* steak rule applies
** I only eat seafood at two places that are not east of Raleigh and not a chain restaurant.

For me one of the reasons for eating out is to try things I don't make regularly. If I want to eat lasagna I'll make it ay home for less and have a guarantee it's good.

The exception to this rule is sandwiches. I love me some well made deli sandwiches.

I won't order most things in restaurants. If it's not a salad, a light app, sushi or booze, I won't touch it. I'm paranoid about the use of butter and oil in most dishes in restaurants. Chefs and line cooks tend to be heavy-handed with the stuff. I've worked in enough restaurants to be paranoid.

it appears as if most of you are relying on applebees as a fine dining establishment.

ignorant.

a little bit of a point, but sometimes it's worth just exposing yourself to new things. i guess the only testicles ive had were duck though. put a big bull testicle in front of me and i'd have reservations.

why eat at a place that uses quick cook spaghetti and prego. this is what im assuming you're talking about. unless you're like four years old.

this is valid. chicken entrees are put on menus for people who dont know what the fuck they're doing or are boring as shit.

mutilator (sort of. assuming you're only eating blackened or fried... there are plenty of other ways to cook a white fish. unless you're talking about certain garbage whitefishes... then fry the fuck out of em)

no place uses kraft and food lion white bread. at least no place you should be eating at. quality grilled cheeses can be great. not that i've ever ordered one, but i could understand doing so.
