I had an office mate who would check the missed connections everyday convinced that there were hundreds of men who just sat around pining over her after she would walk past them in some random coffee shop. My other office mate and I eventually started trolling her by posting a few fake missed connection ads that she would cream herself over. We managed about a week before she figured out it was us. The fact that we laughed to tears when she was excitedly telling us what she found online was a pretty big clue. We never saw her checking them again after that and I'd like to think we finally broke her spirit and popped her overinflated sense of vanity.
