I learned a long time ago to stop hating people. Give it a shot, it's a surprisingly refreshing perspective to adopt
9/6/2011 10:43:37 PM
but thats just naive
9/6/2011 10:44:29 PM
At least I'm not a priest, because I also touch little girls.
9/6/2011 10:46:05 PM
It's not naive. I didn't say anything about not being disappointed in people. I said I'm not going to fucking hate them for it[Edited on September 6, 2011 at 10:47 PM. Reason : see the difference?]

Parents are the worst thing about anything type of work that has to do with children."Mrs. Jones your son, Jimmy, kicked Martha in the shin, then cut Blake's hair""Jimmy? My precious Jimmy? He would never do that, how dare you accuse my child of doing that. I need to speak with the director of this camp."Fucking parents. Shit if I got in trouble at school and I came home all upset with my punishment my parents would call and thank my teachers...and sometimes say I deserved more than what I got...I only had one teaching all throughout my school life that my parents had a problem with...Mrs Parsons. She already had the reputation of being a hardass, so my parents figured they were going to like her. Until the day I came home and told them that she told me that if I knew what was good for me I would not ask questions because no question I could possibly ask in class is important enough for her. The next day she told my friend if she jumped out the window it would be a lot better if she just landed on her head so she wouldn't have to see her anymore.Needless to say, this was her last year teaching.

I've only read two (recreational) books from beginning to end in my life...Animal Farm was oneRolling Thunder Hear My Cry was the other. RTHMC ruined my life for reading forever. It was so unenjoyable I never wanted to read another "recreational" book ever again.

^^ you're the idiot who chose to read a book called "rolling thunder hear my cry"sounds terrible just based on the title.
9/6/2011 11:53:08 PM
It was a book we had to read in class. I didn't get to choose that shit.

You really haven't dealt with 'parents' unless you have dealth with Arab (and Mediterranean) parents, especially of the rich variety.
9/7/2011 7:05:53 AM
boo hoo... damn overpaid teachers that only have to work half the year (while getting off work at 2pm daily) complaining about having to talk to other adults (like EVERY OTHER professional has to do all the time.)
9/7/2011 7:10:51 AM
The book is Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, and I remember loving it and its sequel when I was in the fifth grade. There is no way that one book ruined you on reading forever. You ever see a movie or hear a song that ruined the whole of film and music for you?
9/7/2011 7:11:06 AM
^^ you really want to start that argument?
9/7/2011 7:13:26 AM
Pretty sure Smath is being ironic. If memory serves, he teaches math. Also, hooray for me beating the 4.5 year average. I'm starting year six. [Edited on September 7, 2011 at 7:16 AM. Reason : .]

^ what he (quagmire) said describes many users here. majority of the users here are condescending assholes and bullies, mocking others (not jokingly) and proclaiming directly and indirectly how they are better than others in several threads. so, no need to single him out.

I, for one, plan on taking the 1960 approach.
9/7/2011 11:30:07 AM
^ heh I love that comic. Definitely dealt with some 2010 parents while teaching.
9/7/2011 11:32:16 AM
If I did half the shit that kids get away with in school today, my Dad would have beat my ass so damn hard that my children would not be able to sit down. Accountability, it doesn't exist in schools so how can you punish a child that misbehaves. How can you teach when you cannot have discipline? Oh lets blame little Johnny's problems on the teachers. Could it be that there is no support at home? How many hours is he in front of the TV or video games? Parents are ultimately responsible for their children, not the teacher, not the principal, not the superintendent of schools. Raise your kids right and most of this crap would stop.

This isn't an epidemic within the school system. This is about personal responsibility every where. For example, this happened yesterday:Dad of girl, 12, sues Facebook over her suggestive photoshttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-14803664Instead of putting the blame on the girl, and subsequently blame himself as a shitty dad, the parent is suing facebook for "not strictly enforcing the 13 and over policy"This is complete buffoonery.[Edited on September 7, 2011 at 3:47 PM. ^ That's going to be interesting if they win that case. I imagine that's going to have a lot on implications if it does.
