I also love Indian food, but I have to be careful...Last time, I went all fat American on the green pastey stuff, and my tastebuds were totally destroyed by pure firey heart for the rest of the meal.
9/8/2011 7:36:09 PM
Surprised it took this long for an Indian restaurant to open down there.
9/8/2011 8:34:55 PM
Indian food can be delicious but it all looks like vomit and/or baby poo
9/8/2011 8:36:32 PM
The dal I had for lunch today definitely looked like vomit
9/8/2011 8:37:50 PM

9/8/2011 8:43:35 PM
heat, not heart. Darn it.^^AHA, I'm glad I've never found a decent buffet. I'd be banging on the doors at 10 in the morning, "IT'S LUNCHTIME! OPEN UP!"
9/8/2011 8:53:27 PM
I enjoy food and am open minded but I loathe Indian food. I wish I liked it so I could be cool And I'm probably going to India before the end of the year

9/8/2011 9:45:20 PM
its the same but its different
9/8/2011 9:47:21 PM
Well duh! You think that shit you get at china one is authentic Chinese?
9/8/2011 9:49:07 PM
a good indian restaurant in my opinion is one that just sticks to the basics, tries to be as authentic as possible. when they start with that "fusion" bullshit to try and make it palatable for us 'mericans it usually sucks
9/8/2011 9:52:51 PM
must try!
9/8/2011 9:53:04 PM
Successful foreign restaurants learned a looong time ago that in order to be successful in the US they have to fit their food to our tastes. Sucks but it's true. I still get a kick out of my mom telling me about the new "Italian" restaurant in town back home and I go and it's some pizza joint that sells a few pasta dishes.
9/8/2011 10:01:35 PM
Fuck that smelly ass shit. Stinking up my clean airand what not

9/8/2011 10:46:39 PM
Actually. This is a good thread to ask. So as a white dude from NC. Would this be a good place to take an Indian chick to for a date? Or any other good Indian places?I figure taking her to a steak house would not be a good idea. Lol.
9/8/2011 10:49:14 PM
Tower Indian in Morrisville has some damn good south Indian food, the buffet is an amazing deal too. There was some place in Cary (Kandas I think) that was pretty good but they closed
9/8/2011 10:55:25 PM
^^it would be.
9/8/2011 10:56:50 PM
^^^^^Have you? It's no secret that India is a wild and crazy place with major problems when it comes to food.

^^^^^ I don't know, I first got turned on to Indian food from my deployments to Iraq, Qatar, and Afghanistan. In Iraq, they'd usually let the TCNs (third country nationals) who worked the chow hall cook their local cuisine (as best as they could when serving cafeteria-style) once every week or two. The beef curry was one of the better dishes in Iraq (even though it would just about melt your face, haha). I always thought the Indians made it, although I suppose it's possible that they could have been Pakistani or something. Maybe Indian Muslims, or maybe when you're getting paid well compared to what you make back home, you cook what's in the fridge and get a little bit more...flexible with your convictions. The chicken curry was hands-down my favorite dish at Bagram, Afghanistan. When I was in Qatar, I worked with a British guy who LOVED Indian cuisine, and we also had the luxury of grabbing a government truck and going out into Doha whenever we wanted. We'd go eat Indian sometimes out in town. He explained to me that what we typically think of as Indian food is really a relatively new thing that was pretty much made for the British palate back during the colonial days...probably since British food is so lame.

I don't know enough to know the difference, but I have noticed that many (most?) Indian restaurants in the States have a vegetarian section on the menu.
9/8/2011 11:18:59 PM
^^^While they're answering your question, I'd like Wickerman and Sugarush4u (ironic) to defend their suggestion that moron is wrong.^^Then why would you act like moron was wrong?[Edited on September 8, 2011 at 11:21 PM. Reason : ?]
9/8/2011 11:20:37 PM
they do but gujurati food is typically bhakari (flat bread compared to north indian's naan which a lot of people usually eat). There are certain types of food that are specific to certain areas. Some places offer all of it and some don't it really depends on the restaurant.
9/8/2011 11:21:09 PM
The reason why I questioned if he every visited India is because what is "authentic" in India changes depending on who the person is really. A lot of the poor people really don't have the means to make a full meal that is typical in an indian house. They usually eat things off the street or once in a while somebody is nice and buys them a cup of soup or rice.
9/8/2011 11:26:07 PM
I'm sorry. I expected to hear about your ignorance where you admitted you weren't familiar with poverty. I was not expecting your perverted world view...where if poor people eat something, you don't think it's "authentic."(And I should be clear that sugarush4u is the nicest person on the entire internet.)[Edited on September 8, 2011 at 11:41 PM. You're doing it again.

When I started reading this thread I wanted to reply and say no you have the location wrong. But it turns out that 2 Indian places are opening up, and quite close to each other. Go figure. So we've got this one where Blue Martini used to be and another one opening up on Glenwood South on the ground floor of 222 Glenwood, called Blue Mango. I will have to check both of these places out.As an aside, what are people's opinion on Saffron, the Indian place at McCrimmon Corners in Morrisville. It's near my office but I've never been (mainly b/c nobody I work with or know around here likes/is willing to try Indian food).
