I like this one because he doesn't really play either of those instruments

[Edited on September 17, 2011 at 1:20 PM. Reason : I understand it's not looped, but it's in a similar vein of layered/arranged music]

^^It's amazing to me that he can't play the drums or the piano because he has illustrations of himself playing the drums and the piano. All he'd have to do is memorize the order of the illustrations and play them irl.

awesome find.

None of that equipment is overly expensive or hard to procure, unless that acoustic is a high-dollar item.

And I'm totally over the one-man-looping-as-performance deal.

Well it brings a new meaning to playing with yourself...

but seriously...I could do the exact same thing she is doing if I had that stuff...Yes, she is a good singer and knows some instruments, but ultimately she is using a computer and making it look like talent

Maybe she should form a band?

I'm not saying it doesn't sound good, I'm just saying that I don't really see anything extraordinary with her talent.

Please note that Keller Williams, while a better looper than that girl, still sucks.

I would be more impressed seeing a group of people all coordinated together performing the same piece than just one person.

It's not that hard to step on a pedal, record two measures of a beat or chord progression, step on the pedal again, hit the button on the computer and then repeat how ever many times...

Then once it sounds to your liking you sing over it.

That was a bit cryptic. Keller Williams is a good looper, but his music sucks.

I've never heard music by a looper that I enjoyed. I'm sure some exists, but I haven't seen any, especially not from the higher profile loopers like Keller Williams or KT Tunstall.

^^ Most people with a musical background could do that after a little practice with the equipment. It's very user-friendly stuff, and basic knowledge in chord building and scale theory provides for a great deal of improvisation.

Exactly...all you have to do is break down a song to its basic parts. Then just record two measures of each part, put them all on top of each other, and then sing.

Give me that equipment and leave me alone for a day with it then I'd be doing the same thing she was.

her songs sound pleasant enough, but her pace is maddeningly slow

sometimes she waits a couple measures to begin the next layer because either

- she's fucking around
- doesn't know her equipment well
- doesn't have things set up in an efficient way
