To clarify, its happening in May when the GOP presidential primary is going on, and there is nothing going on really on the Democratic side, but any registered voter can vote on the amendment. It was just placed on the ballot for a time when there is going to be a large conservative turn out anyways.

@AuH20... Are you sure about that? My understanding is that for the US house & senate you don't have to run in the district you live in, you just have to be in the right state. So just because they drew Miller our of his old district by a few feet doesn't mean he can't still run in his old district, which I had just assumed he'd do. Have you heard differently?

Whereas at the state level house & senate I do believe you have to live in the district you are running in. Which unfortunately means a lot of women in the General Assembly are going to get "double bunked" where they are being drawn into districts where they have to run against each other or against strong republican incumbents. Women are already a minority in the General Assembly, and as a result of the partisan redistricting, they will be even more of a minority after the 2012 elections.
