I just wish they would have given us a different map from Alpha. However knowing the map is the same and the download is 2x the size of Alpha; I would say this is the real deal (meaning fully functional Frostbite 2.0)

Its strange, the game seems to hover around 60fps in the subway with everything ultra and 4x AA...decreasing settings doesn't really change the fps.

HBAO is a huge fps hit obviously

I would be SURPRISED if the 8800gts would even make it past the menu screen. lol

I'm hopeful one 5870 will yield good results it not, 2. Or I could go the gtx 570 route too. Options options options.

I played the Alpha on a 9600gso, is it was BARELY playable, but you could play it, haha it was choppy and ugly but still, a 8800gts MIGHT be playable at the bare minimum.

The graphics settings are buggy as hell.

I switched off Ambient Occlusion and turned it back on and got 40 more fps. Now pushing 90+ in the subway with everything on ultra.

I don't think some of the settings even work

One down side about BF3 would be the increased amount of people using game videos for actual IRL footage for media use... Just as what happened with ARMA 2. lol

This game is fucking ridiculous, I have never seen anything so realistic looking in my life. We don't even have full control over DX11 (I'm looking for .ini) yet and it already looks better than Crysis 2 with Patches and DX11 added. This outdoors map is insane and the fire fights are so realistic looking. This is like BC2+BF3+Crysis 1 had a baby and it was Jesus.

(I own over 80 games just on Steam, this is coming from a guy who spent over 70 hours on Deus Ex to follow the complete story)

This game could in itself bring back PC Gaming to it's hay day.

Yes I'm stoned

and yes I've played BF since BF1942

So I just ordered a 560 Ti Superclocked edition to replace my 5770. Hopefully it'll be able to get some decent framerates at 1920x1080. I don't mind turning off AA and V-sync so I don't think that'll be much of a problem.

I guess what I mean is:

Is it the visceral, game-changing experience the trailers and hype make it out to be? Or is it just another quality shooter?

Ugh.

I am getting some really bad artifacts when I look at certain shadows. And the game doesnt let you adjust anything since you start playing it through your internet browser.

For sure

Quote :
"game-changing experience"

to the people experiencing issues, this is the point of a Beta; to allow the dev team to see the game run on millions of different hardware combos and not just their own and then fix it.

However between finding a match and being in game takes less than 20 seconds for me, I couldn't believe how fast and smooth everything is running on my OC'd 480 and Q9550. I can basically run Ultra @ 1200p with 4xAA and 16xAF 40-50fps avg, but the VRAM climbs up to 1400mb, so I have to cut back somewhere unless this engine really handles large maps vs textures very well.

yeah, fuck amd and their pos 11.8 drivers. GRRR... no stable on any game, get graphical twitches and my 2nd monitor flakes/spazes out. I donno, 5870 on my computer does not like new drivers. Guess I'll switch to the gtx570 when it comes in tomorrow. Will need to upgrade my psu for the 2nd 570 if I'm going to keep it.

But yeah, I have no real problems with the game, its damn fun. Like serious fun. I get pretty good frames throughout the map and the only issue is on outside parts, medium/long distance textures flash for one frame every so often, like ever 2-5 mins. I like the integrated of the battlelog/facebook of bf3. Works pretty good, and instantly updates and saves everything. Finding a server is fast and I like how you don't have to go through some crazy ingame menu screen with a fixed viewing size.

I'm a little mixed about it all being browser based, but its just odd, not bad. I just wondered why they didn't just have a browser builtin to origin. Then whats the point of origin if BF3 is going to have an origin inside their origin...

That is why you buy NVIDIA, because the ATI/AMD driver team is awful in comparison. NVIDIA beta drivers are more stable than some WHQL ATI/AMD RC Drivers.

I have to say I love BF3 Beta so far and I'm so glad we got 2 maps. Does anyone know when the Beta will end? I think BC2 Beta was like 1 week before the launch of BC2.

only issue i've had at this point is actually getting into a match. it's been very slow and frustrating trying to join matches since most servers are full all the time. the game runs smooth for me; just having issues with some of the controls which i haven't been able to adjust yet.

I found a scope bug. If you level up and get awards, you can't zoom in with your main rifle until the game finishes showing you all the shit you were awarded. Although, you can swap to your pistol and back to the rifle to break it.

its more fast pace than bc2, but its not run and gun mw2/black cocks. It feels a bit more tactile than COD and a bit more realistic than other BF series games. I think its a perfect mix of both series. They really got the gameplay down.
