So, the calf muscle on my left leg has been bothering me for the past week or so, not really painful, but just feels sore. It doesn't really bother me up until the evening/night time. Any ideas? The internet warned about DVT, but it's not that painful, it doesn't hurt more if I squeeze the calf muscle, or bend my foot towards my shin.

Assuming you don't recall doing anything out of the ordinary to make it hurt:

How deep is the pain?

Does it hurt when you stretch and hold stretched the calf muscle during a warm up exercise?

Doesn't feel very deep, like right beneath the surface of calf muscle on the back of my leg. I've stretched it , put significant weight on it and doesn't really change anything.

Again, really only occurs in the later part of the day.

What concerns you the most about it?

The fact that it throbs when you're at rest?
The fact that it hurts when you're relaxed and your mind is focused on it?

It doesn't sound like anything you should worry about. You don't have any visual damage and there is no deep tissue pain. Sounds like a muscle is just fatigued and it's repairing itself.

If it doesn't stop in two weeks, consult a doctor.

Nothing really concerns me about it, I mean it's just an mild annoyance right now. However, I'm leaving the military in about 50 days and if potentially serious, I'd rather get it dealt with now. I'll wait 2 weeks though.

Ice. Stretching. Rest. Can't really recommend anything else for it.

Homan's sign (red, warm, swollen, deep) on your calf was an old sign of DVT, but it's most likely to pop up when you've been bedridden from surgery + have hypertension and other circulatory/cardiac issues. If you've been otherwise active and healthy, not really relevant to you.

Probably just took a stupid step and pulled a muscle. Hell, I've sprained my ankle just by walking down stairs wrong, than I ever have by running or any other athletic endeavor.
