extreme protection here obviously refers to thoroughly cleaning his body parts that came in contact with the brazil nuts. i doubt he was eating them with his penis, and apparently no one, not even the medical community, until now knew that seminal fluid can cause such a reaction. otherwise, she would have told him to use condoms as well.
