I'm having a debate with my roomie who is under the impression that it's ok to bring beers home from a party, while I say you leave them for the host/house. What say you TWW?

it depends, do you go to this friends house and occasionally grab a beer, then its cool

if you have never left a beer then i think its ok to take them back, but only if you keep them on you, if they are in the fridge then they should be left

but more importantly, why aren't you finishing your beers? pussy

depends on whose house, whose party, how drunk you are, how expensive the beer is, how cheap you are, how much respect you have, and how many favors you owe

If you come to my house and leave a case of shitty beer to fill up my fridge I'll probably be more pissed than grateful.

if it was something special like a bottle of Woodford Reserve or something I would take it home, just beer, leave it.

Put your beer in a cooler. Take cooler to party. Problem solved.

1. get trashed off your own beer before you go to party

2. mooch off others beer at party

3. get double the drunk at half the costs

4. profit?....

Aren't you always expected to bring one or two more beers than you plan to drink?

I'll usually ask if anyone wants them as I walk out if I'm not shitty drunk. I've definitely done both. Either it's a beer I like and want to keep them or it's a beer I like and want the host to try. Super situational.

Generic big3 beerI tend to leave, especially if I know it will be consumed.

While I've seen people do both, I think that people usually leave their extra beer behind at a party.

I never take crappy beer to a party and whatever i take stays. And i always try to grab a single of something special just to share with the host/buddies at the party.

It's all about the context. If you're not autistic, use your best judgment. If you are, ask somebody else.

Very clearly, leave it there.

Unless you're a booze hound...in that case, you should take it home and drink it, and nobody should think twice about it either way.

Yeah. I just leave it. I don't fault anyone for taking theirs home though but I try to bring enough beer for me and then a few extras to share.

it really depends. if it's for a party i buy it with the intention to share and leave anything extra. i consider it my contribution to the party. if it's just hanging out with a couple friends i may or may not take leftovers home with me, depending on how cheap i'm feeling and/or how expensive the beer was.

I bring way more than I plan to drink then leave it. I also make more than most of my friends so this is how I give back to the community.

I never drink beer anymore, so I don't want to wake up the next morning with a fridge full of beer I'm not going to drink. I especially hate it when someone shows up with some nasty tasting IPA and acts like they're doing me a favor by leaving me a couple because it's "good beer".

After our Halloween party Saturday night, there were precisely 6 leftover beers that people left in my fridge.

The people that put their beer in the fridge, left what they didn't drink. Also, there were about 3 partial bottles of wine left in the ice bucket.

I'll be damned if I leave my beer. 1) Most people probably won't like it 2) It's expensive. it's not this bud light shit you can pick up for $0.50/can.

In fact, the only time I've ever left beer, was when I was trying to get rid of shitty beer that had accumulated in my fridge, thanks to others leaving it there.

i bring more beer than i can drink and open it up to anyone who wants one...and assuming there's more than one or two, i take the rest home

when at my place, folks are welcome to any beer i have in the fridge...i expect them to take their beer back so i don't have to house it

i've never talked this over with anyone before, i just figured people didn't stress about these types of things

If your host is providing the beer, you can take 1. Any more than that (without asking the host) makes you look like a cheap fuck that takes advantage of others.

my friends don't have to ask...and they know it

then again, they usually bring their own beer (to share) and i do the same at their houses

*shrug*

it's more of a courteous gesture to ask than to just walk out with beer that isn't yours

it's completely subjective, though...not a single one of my friends would consider it rude and neither would i

so if one of your friends grabbed a 12 pack of beer out of your fridge without asking you, you wouldn't feel even remotely irritated about it?

[Edited on October 31, 2011 at 1:19 PM. Reason : a 12 pack of good beer]

You should leave it as a thank you to the host. The host is using their money to pay for lights and A/C and to keep your beer cold in the fridge. Usually they have a small aray of food, that no one else helped pay for, and they have to clean up when everyone leaves. They don't expect anything, but at the end of a night, a fridge full of beer is a nice way to be thanked. If they don't like the beer, they can bring it to a party next time they go out and leave it there.
