I just transferred to NC State this semester, and I have had the shittest time making friends. I'm not a sorority girl or a farmer. I don't have a problem with either, mind you.

I just want a group of friends with similar interests..is that so much to ask for?

Also, the vast majority of people on here have been out of college for a couple of years or are finishing up graduate school.


Try joining a club, playing pickup soccer/sport and make friends through that. Study groups...etc..

Have you considered that part of your problem may be your stereotypical views of those around you? I found most people in undergrad to be fairly welcoming to new folks even when I walked up and introduced myself on a whim. Where have you tried to meet people?

Transfer students that I knew always had a really hard time with this. It's not just you. The solution I think would be to not transfer unless you already know a great deal about where you want to go and the activities you want to do there.
