Pierce was so hated by his constituency that he did not get the nomination from his own party for re-election. I would say that deserves about the worst. I don't know who Rachel Maddow is.

...yet if you cornered her on exactly why i guarantee you she would flub the answer without a prepared statement- she just hates that hes an idiotic yee-haw.

but besides that, dubya isnt even if in the top 10 worst- not by a long shot.

id say pierce makes the top 5 but just barely. sure what you mentioned looks bad, but he and his successor were both direct contributors to the civil war.

just to be clear, im not attacking you, but there is an entire category of suck beyond bush.

Oh, I just say Bush 2 because of his refusal to tax (because he was embarrassed that his daddy reneged on the "Read my lips" campaign) which got us into the recession that we are currently in and can't seem to get out of. I do wish Obama would come up with something to help and I don't think the US is a sinking ship, I just don't think Obama is in that top 5 either.

I hope this isn't frightening but I'm in grad school atm to become a high school history teacher. I also got BAs in history and art history. I know a lot of history and read a lot but it is impossible to know it all. I'm trying really hard to be an informed citizen for sure especially if I have to teach our next generation.

oh im sorry! im a teacher as well (not history), and think bush was awful (especially his 2nd term).

but the presidents leading up to and directly after the civil war are a level of crap not seen in this (or last) century.

they also tend to get drowned out by the holy guiding light which is lincoln, although his greatness might be slightly exaggerated, he was by far the best out of that time period.

obama isnt in the top 10 worst presidents either-
