my wife and i went to an italian place (the name escapes me, but it was from the charlotte restaurant thread)...we wanted a place that was more authentic (ie. not olive garden-esque)
we spoke with the owner (an italian woman) and we ended up getting multiple limoncello cream shots when we told her it was our anniversary...food was amazing, service was great
it wasn't a very dressy place, though (not that it needed to be, but i suppose my point is that it only lacked "ambiance") 11/2/2011 6:42:40 AM

Yeah, there's not much in Southwest Charlotte. You could go to the shopping center on South Tryon near 485, but I think all you have there is Chili's. A little further down on Tryon and you have a Wild Wing's cafe haha.
I would recommend going a little further East into the Ballantyne area. Waldhorn is also pretty awesome, but it's a German restaurant and not known for being romantic. 11/2/2011 10:25:37 AM

^^ Ballantyne has several good options - right there of 485 there is an upscale looking shopping center that I've been to with the wife's family a few times (intersection of 521 (Johnston Rd) and Ballantyne Commons Parkway). Always been good times around there.
Been to the Fox and Hound, the Italian joint, and the Mexican place too 11/2/2011 10:41:08 AM

HAHA
Some friends and I went there one night, after an early night of drinking, and out of curiosity. Awkward, and depressing--much more so that a normal strip club. The strippers were given the address to a house, where we would be at a party the next weekend. It set it up for a memorable experience.

haha, not THAT part of southwest charlotte. I'm from the Steele Creek area so that's where I am while on leave. I think the best bet on this side of town is Hickory Tavern. There's a couple decent places in Arysley and Rivergate, but I don't know shit about it anymore. Red Lion or something like that in Arysley is decent, and fuck if I can name anything else in there besides that, a movie theater, a Moes, and a Wild Wing Cafe.

Date 3, in the flow of things I feel like the proper date tonight is the different between being two people that kinda like each other and went on dates and two people that are dating/in a relationship.
Quote : | "so did you get lost every time you came home for summer vacation?" |
No. Charlotte, especially the area I'm from, has changed a LOT over the last 3 years and especially in the last few months. Roads I drove on daily are completely different. Around the time I turned 21 I went to boot camp and everything good in Charlotte requires you to be 21 anyway. So in the last 7 months all the data dumping and changes in the area left me with half an idea of what to do. ] 11/2/2011 5:03:29 PM

The Saffron, next to the steele creek Y in arsley, is good (gets the vote of my authentic red dot freinds) but it's probably not the ideal pre-coitus food... 11/2/2011 5:13:37 PM

There's a good Thai place near there, but I cannot remember the name of it so I guess this is not much help. It's basically in a random business complex. 11/2/2011 5:17:19 PM

For future reference, Ayrsley also has:
-Portofino's (good italian place w/ olive garden/carraba type prices), -Salsa's (a nice mexican place. good food but pricier than your run of the mill mexican) -Wild Wings Cafe (self explanatory) -Applebee's (fuck that shit yo)
The Red Lion closed like a year ago. There's also another Mexican place around the corner called Don Pedro's I think, but its a lot more like a El Rodeo type restaurant. Good food, kind of older/less nice interior. 11/5/2011 8:32:05 AM
