Ebay owns a 49% stake in craigslist. It's shitty (with only a limited local search) because they want it to be.

Speaking of which, they have the worst search engine. If you search "lamp" it won't return results for "lamps". Forget boolean operators, they say they support them but haven't for years.

These e-mails make up 95% of what I'm getting from Craigslist now.
My ads both say "If this ad is still up the item is still for sale" and "Due to excessive spam and scam offers I will only respond to ads which include a phone number."

I'm assuming all the "Where is it" messages are just being used for mining legit e-mail addresses to spam?
I also received a spam text recently which is probably the result of responding so one of the more legit seeming e-mails I have received.

And these are the e-mails that didn't automatically go into my spam folder.

CL's success will be it's downfall if they don't find a way to contain/limit the amount of junk that is coming through their system.

When I was going to list my car on craigslist, I was going to do the prepaid cell thing. Thankfully I was able to sell through other means. I just didn't want to have to deal with giving out my real phone #. Was also going to insist on neutral site meetings for anyone who wanted to look at it. Call me paranoid if you wish but I didn't want anyone from there to know where I lived or how to contact me unless they actually bought it.

I'm selling a Bose iPod sounddock on CL because I bought the new one that has the bluetooth connectivity, eliminating the dock part. The one I'm selling retails for $400 and is less than a year old. Like-new condition.

I asked for $275 cash.

This guy emails me offering $250. $250 is right about at the basement of what I would let it go for, since I don't need the money I'll just leave it in the house and use it.

So I said, ok $260, which in my craigslist experience is about as much counter offering as people do. I solicit, you make an offer, i make a counter offer and you accept or decline.

This motherfucker comes back to me talmbout $255 cash.

I wrote him back and said
