Has anyone ever been here or heard experiences from those who have? A friend from my graduate program mentioned that it was his favorite place out of nearly a hundred countries he's traveled to (guy especially loved to travel to "odd" places that are out out of the mainstream). I'm planning my annual trip to Europe for probably April and found a flight from London to Reykjavik for under $180 round trip (back to London) and was wondering if it would be worth an out of the way trip. 11/20/2011 7:41:36 PM |

We just went this summer for our honeymoon and stayed in Reykjavik for 8 days. I would highly recommend it. 11/21/2011 6:59:56 AM |

It is really expensive to drink there. 11/21/2011 9:32:35 AM |

Just spent about 9 days or so in Iceland this past August, was one of the coolest places I've ever been. Reykjavik was cool enough itself, but I am not nearly as interested in cities when I travel. 11/21/2011 10:18:54 AM |

^^ Food and drink are both really expensive. If you plan to drink you should purchase it at the airport in duty free. We made the big mistake of not doing that.
If you do go you need to try the hotdogs. Make sure to get them from the original place near the harbor.
And second what ^ said. As cool as the city is the best parts of the country are not the city. If you do go make sure to plan to take some trips outside the city. If you have money to spend try and take one of the superjeep tours, or a tour that includes snowmobiling on the glaciers. Freaking awesome. 11/21/2011 10:46:49 AM |

Here are my best handful of pictures from there if it helps your decision (yes, some had a weird camera setting, so it might not look exactly like that)

The last three minutes of this documentary put Iceland on my bucket list. (Its mostly about Iceland Fashion Week and psychedelic mushrooms and is NSFW but the hot springs look amazing)

It looks nice on House Hunters International (I'd claim I only watch it because of the wife, but that'd be a lie as I'm mildly hooked on it myself).
It's on my list of foreign cities I'd move to. 11/22/2011 7:55:36 AM |
