^^ I was told by a sheriff that they can't target specific events like "the first Friday after college starts back" for checkpoints.

I live on 1 of 2 roads that leads to a drag race track. Once a month they have a huge race out there, plus they typically have something going on every weekend. Some nights I will be coming home and dozens of cars/motorcycles will go flying by me. I am sure a lot of them are drunk, as I see a lot of them at the gas station buying tons of beer on race day.

Well, one random Sunday the Sheriff's Dept. had a checkpoint set up on my road at like 2PM. When the Sheriff took my license, I asked him why they would do it on a random day like that and not on a race day, when they could easily nab a ton of people. He said that they do have them on race days occasionally, but they can't do it often for fear it would be considered profiling. So they have to do them on random days sometimes to justify the few times they have one on race night.

That being said, that may just be a Guilford County thing. Because I know there is a bar in Lexington where Cops set up in front of pretty much every weekend. I want to say that the owner actually tried to sue Davidson County because of all the business he was losing.

I know that when I got my DUI, my lawyer's defense was going to be profiling. It probably wouldn't have worked, but fortunately the cop didn't show up to court.

My buddy got pulled over twice in the same night (once in Cary and once in Morrisville) driving our drunk asses home. Since the smell of alcohol was so strong in the car, of course the cops pulled him out and gave him sobriety tests. Breathilizer given by the Cary cop, but not by the Morrisville cop. Both stops combined probably lasted 15 minutes tops.

It's pretty much the whole point of using a DD.
