what a rough night, stayed up all night with my baby all night after she was bite on the mouth by a black widow in the woods =(. She struggled to breath, She was immobile and stuck in a rigor mortis type position with muscle spasms. So scary. Her breathing was very shallow, but now she is able to eat and drink..... never been so thankful. 12/3/2011 9:01:43 AM |

My MIL's dog was biten by some sort of poisonous spider on the ear. Half her ear ended up falling off They never did figure out if it was a brown recluse or a black widow. We've seen both around her property in Cary so who knows. 12/3/2011 10:11:53 AM |

Brown Recluse bites cause necrosis like you describe. Black widow bites cause swelling and muscle spasms, as in kmyoungs dog. 12/3/2011 10:44:37 AM |

My cat used to play with this brown-recluse that was just out of reach in the corner of the ceiling. After a week of watching it I took it out Angry Birds style with a rubber band to the abdomen or whatever you fucking call it. It just hung there caught in its own web dead for the last month. I'm actually hoping something will come out and eat it because I hate looking at it everytime I take a shower. 12/3/2011 4:03:55 PM |

I appreciate the support, she is able to eat little pieces of food, and she is moving her head around and can look at things. Much improved.
my baby..

Dog survived, so the luck's not all bad. The house I grew up in seems to be a resort for black widows. I waged my own personal war on them growing up. So much insecticide, so many dead spiders.
Im glad your puppy is ok! Did you get your revenge?12/4/2011 12:07:02 PM |

^yes, I honestly thought she was dying so I am lucky she made it. we seem to have a great habitat for them as well. I spray every spring because we have sooo many around. I also maintain a wolf spider population to help control them. I name them, lol. 12/4/2011 2:19:21 PM |
