1) the guy in the video either does not understand evolutionary theory or went out of his way to make a video demonstrating his vast lack of knowledge on the subject

2) regardless of what he knows... he made a stupid and pointless video that didn't supply viewers with a competent argument to either refute or support

3) i am not going to get into an evolution vs. creation argument

4) who the fuck cares about theory or not, we get it, they're both theories, what is your fucking point. there are many theories that are widely accepted and that we use on a daily basis, this thread isnt about whether these ideas are theories or not.

well since i gave you no indication of my level of understanding of EITHER theory then i'd appreciate you not assuming i'm the counterpart of our friend in the video

my opinion on this topic: learn all you can about either theory. if you feel the need to belong to one side or the other, then learn what you must to make that decision. theres also nothing wrong with not subscribing to either and leaving yourself somewhere in-between.

Actually, I am pretty sure there are documented cases of evolution.

I'll toss a few out there:

-bacteria evolving to become resistant to certain antibiotics. This demonstrates the processes of natural selection/survival of the fittest.

-Virus strains that only affect certain types of people. There is a theory that certain European lineages that survived the bubonic plague are also resistant to HIV.

-The biggest example: A habitat for a certain specie of salamander was cut off from the rest of it's population. In as little as 50 years, the cut off specie had diversified so much that it was no longer able to reproduce with the original salamander population. Effectively creating a NEW species. If that is not an example of evolution, I am not sure what else could be.

-the bacteria did not evolve. there was no natural force to make more "fit" f0's pass on their traits to the offspring. this is along the lines of saying that people that have more money and live on a hill are more "fit" due to them having safer houses than those that live in the flood plain. it's a bottleneck effect. NOT evolution.

-the HIV example is well documented. some people do not have the protein receptor in their cells that HIV needs to bind to in order to infect. are you implying that you have seen some sort of fitness that derives from not getting a disease that has been around for 30 years correlating with a trait that has possibly been around for thousand years? heterozygotes for cycle cell can't get malaria. doesn't make it an evolutionary trend.

-the salamanders...exactly what did they evolve to gain an advantage from? was the "new" species not there already? dig in the dirt long enough and you'll find a new class of Nematodes. it is highly suspect that a new species evolved in 50 years.
