Are birds something that are easy to get a hold of for a year or two and then find another home for them? Or, are you responsible for them for the rest of their lives?

I think you should plan on having any pet until the end of it's natural lifespan, but especially large parrots. Who the fuck really decides to get a pet and give it away after 2 years? It blows my mind. The little birds we are talking about were basically dumped on me, so I found them a new home. I've had all of my birds for over 12 years now, and they may easily live another 12-20 years.
