How many guys say this to female friends? Is it just ones you'd like to fuck or attracted to? What sort of situations is appropriate for this?

I try not to use them on anyone but the lady friend. I do call a lot of people Mr. blah blah or Miss/Mrs. blah blah...but it's a tone that turns it into a power move


Most of those aren't appropriate for female friends...make you sound like a grandpa talking to a little kid or a flamboyant flake.

I used babe subconsciously every now and then when I was dating this guy for awhile. He didn't like it at all...and would always point it out. "Will you stop doing that?" lol

I guess "punk rockers" just aren't into that.

I don't know...sometimes it just slips at the end of my sentences.

I swear I'd never do it...but I call the current gf "baby" all the time.

When bartending, I would call girls "sweetheart"...subconsciously. I didn't like doing it, but it would just slip out. Nobody every seemed to mind and most liked it.

I occasionally greet my female friends with a "hello, gorgeous" or "hey, beautiful." But I wouldn't use babe, honey, or sweetheart; you have to be an old Southern woman to get away with that.

I do sometimes say "hey girlfriend" based on an incident where some dude tried to holler at her by saying that while she was putting gas in her car, then he saw me in the passenger seat and said "nice car" and went back into the gas station where the clerk laughed at him

regarding the original question, no guy has pet names for female friends who they aren't trying to flirt with

"honey" seems like either patronizing or some kind of gay affect. that top? those shoes? oh, honey, no.

I use pet names a lot. I use sweetie, sweet heart and sugar for my girlfriend. Most of my female friends I just call "dude"... but most of them are in the Military and don't really care. If I'm trying to get a rise out of them I'll call one "Princess"... that usually pisses them off real good.
