How come this is often a female issue than men, it seems? Or I'm not meeting enough men in my life?

I think it's because chicks are often posing for pictures with big, sometimes even exaggerated toothy grins, and the threshold at which it becomes creepy looking (unless you have excessive TGR, like you mention) is pretty high.

Conversely, a dude can pretty easily look like:

or

...so we probably tend to avoid posing in pictures, purposefully posing with a megagrin.

Oh man, I have a difficult time finding men and women attractive with terrible gum to tooth ratios. Ask Ken.

Quote :
"Stewie Griffin: Chris, whatever happened to Geena Davis? She used to be in movies, but she's not in movies anymore. She's attractive enough but when she smiles you see too much gum. Not a good tooth-to-gum ratio... Chris? Ah, I'll tell you in the morning. "

So true.

i think this has more to do with the fact that a disproportionally small upper lip tends to be present in women more often than men. i personally don't mind a gummy smile. they still look all

Yikes! A similar turn off for me is when the person has tiny teeth. Like it looks like they never lost their baby teeth. Ick.

My turnoffs are bad teeth, thin upper lip, TGR (obviously).
