From IMDb:
Quote : | "A team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
Director: Ridley Scott Writers: Jon Spaihts, Damon Lindelof Stars: Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Patrick Wilson, and Guy Pearce
Release Date: June 8, 2012" |

There is a lot of speculation about the plot and a lot of fan created synopses floating around on the internet; it now appears certain that the Space Jockey and derelict ship will play a large role.
I'm more excited about this movie that either TDKR or The Hobbit.

Riddley Scott is being pretty smart by taking the xenomorphs out of the movie and bringing in new creatures / story elements but still keeping it grounded in the ALIEN HR Giger world. Looks like we will be getting a movie that will fall somewhere between the first two movies in relation to the horror / action mix. I haven't been this pumped about a summer blockbuster since Episode I...with less chance of being disappointed this time around! 12/22/2011 1:03:57 PM |

1. Love Ridley Scott, will see anything he directs 2. Guy Pearce is one of the most overlooked/under-rated actors, he's awesome (except for that Snowy River Saga shit from australia) 3. I'll let Michael Fassbender journey to my darkest corners anytime what a hottie 12/22/2011 1:29:49 PM |

Because Ridley Scott is quoted as saying they will not appear in Prometheus. I'm not convinced that face huggers / eggs will be omitted however; at least showing up in the last few minutes.

I guess I'm confused then because when I hear 'xenomorph' I'm thinking of the entire species, not just the adults. Do you have a reference for what Scott actually said?
I just can't imagine that this movie isn't going to end with an alien queen on the Space Jockey's ship laying eggs or something like that.
Also I like this quotation:
Quote : | "In an interview on the BBC Morning Show, Rafe Spall added to the discussion on the matter by saying saying, "I think fans of the franchise will love it. Alien is one of the best films ever made, and it’s a real buzz to be in a space suit on an 'Alien' set with Ridley Scott coming and speaking to you. It’s incredible. That’s why I wanted to be an actor, to be in a space suit on an 'Alien' set"." |

well you already saw from the trailer what looks like fields of some kind of pod but mechanically built (not organic egg sacks)
you see it at the 0:27-0:29 mark of the trailer
however, in buzzkill fashion, some sites are reporting that this is supposedly set in the future and has no prequel relationship to Alien

According to wiki:
Quote : | "Fassbender stated the film was still an Alien prequel so-to-speak, saying, "Prometheus is absolutely connected to Alien... There's a definite connecting vein."[54] In a June 2011 interview, screenwriter Damon Lindelof claimed it will be a prequel to the Alien films, but follow a different story, in the sense that "a true prequel should essentially [precede] the events of the original film, but be about something entirely different, feature different characters, have an entirely different theme, although it takes place in that same world. That was my fundamental feeling about what this movie wanted to be".[1] By July 2011, Scott stated, "By the end of the third act you start to realize there’s a DNA of the very first [Alien], but none of the subsequent [films]."[42] Nevertheless, he made it clear that he made no direct link between Prometheus and Alien.[4" |
So it's not a prequel, per se, but I still think it qualifies. Whatever. It's set in the same Universe and directed by Scott. It will be incredible.12/22/2011 4:53:30 PM |

Let's see, great actors, great director, movie universe already well fleshed out, plot focuses on one of the more interesting mysteries in cinema(space jockey), and it's got great CG. Will watch. Will be great. 12/22/2011 6:03:46 PM |

When I think xenomorph, I think chest burster and the eggs / face-huggers are just that. I can't imagine that they would conclude this movie without at least hinting at the origin of the eggs. Also, for reference the egg like canisters are being referred to as ampules, possibly bioformers.
Here is the quote where Ridley says that xenoporphs will not be a part of Prometheus:
Quote : | "Asked if Xenomorph would return, he said: "No, absolutely not. They squeezed it dry. He did very well. He survived, he's now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!"" |

Xenomorph to me is the alien after it exits the host.
I am pretty sure the face huggers are not included under xenomorph simply because they only come out of a queen and all the face hugger eggs turn into 'xenomorphs' and not face huggers.
In the games and movies the face huggers are never referred to as xenomorphs.
'Morph' would also reflect the 'mature' aliens ability to take on the traits of its host.
So, there will be no mature aliens. There most likely will be face huggers. 12/22/2011 8:29:56 PM |

Chicken or egg thought: I wonder if this movie is considering the AvP movies as canon. I hope not. The writers may have created a problem if so, since the AvP movies were set in present day. Are the people in Prometheus "searching" for something because of some past company knowledge? I'm probably reading too much into this. 12/24/2011 12:40:30 PM |

Apparently they are referenced in various other productions, and they are closely linked to the Xenomorphs. Sometimes the Jockeys are called "Pilots", Mala'kak, or "Collectors", because they collect the Xenomorph eggs. Some say they created the Xenomorph to begin with

Between the 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd I think they were drifting and not traveling. So the 60 years thing isn't a function of the norm travel in that universe. They probably go over travel in the books better. Whether that's 'official' or not I'm unsure. 12/26/2011 1:05:30 PM |
