The metal end/jacket came off of my primary HDMI cable (to TV). It's a 12' run and I don't have another cable this long (ordered a replacement though). Is there a way to fix this cable, at least temporarily? The rest of the cable is intact, just the male end came off, exposing the metal prongs on the cable.

I suppose you could cut a chunk off the plastic end and solder the tiny wires onto the correct places

you could splice a new end on by cannibalizing a regular length hdmi.

HDMI is such a flaky hardware implementation to begin with, I can virtually guarantee you that splicing shit together would make it fail hard. Get Amazon Prime if you don't have it and have them overnight you a cable for like $10-12 total if you're in a super hurry.

by the time you figure out how to repair this, your new cable would have arrived.

You should cash in the warranty on the cable too, it most likely has a lifetime warranty (and if it's a Best Buy brand cable, they'll swap it in store).
