Williamsburg has the most awesome asian buffet I've ever seen. Peking Restaurant it's called.

It's like the size of a food lion and the back wall is totally covered with buffet lines. They have chinese food, japanese food, a sushi train, a mongolian BBQ station, thai, vietnamese, korean and a hell of a lot of other stuff.

VA has the shithole known as "Hampton Roads," while NC has the shithole known as "Robeson County."

Hampton Roads is much more widespread than Robeson, so VA loses.

NC gave us John Edwards, Mike Easley, and Meg Scott Phipps.

NC gave us the the superior flavor of Eastern NC BBQ, but they also gave us the disgusting waste of pork that is Western NC BBQ. VA gave us boiled peanuts, which even George Washington Carver himself wouldn't consider a viable use for peanuts.

Virginia is much better at executing public transportation, whether you take the water taxi in the Chesapeake area or the metro in the Nova area. You can survive in VA without a car, but you cannot survive in NC without a car. In this regard VA >>> NC.

However, NC has a much lower cost of living and offers pretty much everything that VA does. The schools are also better, not to mention a hell of a lot more people from VA vacay in NC (OBX) than NC people vacay in VA. Therefore, I think NC is a much happier place but could improve its public transportation.

I miss both places, a lot.

Virginia has Smith Mountain Lake, which is a pretty great area.
Drivers from VA typically suck. I don't know how many times I've gotten behind some jackass/moron driver and looked at the plates and saw that they are from VA.

Been to 41 states so far (driving in most of them) and NC still wins, in my opinion.

the water taxis on the chesapeake are garbage, unless you meant the ones on the potomac, which have more to do with federal DC funding that VA funding. Same thing goes for the metro in VA - it wouldn't exist without HEAVY funding from the federal government.

traffic is way worse in VA and cops are insane about enforcing traffic law
there's no real nice city in VA. Richmond is a dump, Chancellorsville is hardly a city and Arlington is just a suburb of DC. Williamsburg is nice to visit but who would want to live there. Look it up on urban dictionary and everyone says it's the place where "fun goes to die" or the "place fun forgot"
