it was decent back in the day when I took it. good overview of databases and pretty good for teaching you basic concepts on how not to make a shitty database. you won't really learn much in the way of SQL, though. 1/6/2012 10:54:39 AM

I'd rather have a legion of database designers who can't write SQL but understand referential integrity than one more goddamn SQL wizard who doesn't know his normal forms. 1/6/2012 11:24:21 AM

It was decent. Though I'd rather have a legion of programmers that know the difference between when to use and not use a SQL database and have to make performance decisions on when to use referential integrity or not. 1/6/2012 11:39:11 AM

^^^HAHAHAHA
It took me FOREVER to explain to my boss why we didn't want to just build it and throw data in it willy-nilly. Normals are there for a reason; and you reap benefits when you need access to that data.

i don't know that I could tell you the various normal forms, but I imagine that I set up tables decently well, not that it's really all that hard to do 1/6/2012 12:23:09 PM
