I know there has to be some casual and serious wire fans alike on this thread. But there isn't an active wire discussion thread.

So use this place to discuss different conductors, gauges, and accessories.

Personally I'm a red wire and usually go through about 2 spools a week. Our old standby is Romex. Predominantly copper, but the blend includes Steel, Aluminum and Gold. It's around $70 a spool and we enjoy it much more than the popular store brands.

But if I had to pick a red wire style i'm probably enjoying 12 AWG the most right now with 14 AWG a close second.


I by no means know a lot about wire, but i'm trying to learn more and more with each spool and trying to pair windings with use a good bit as well. I haven't ventured much beyond the $75/spool price range. So lets get this thing lit.

also, i'm all about the 12/2 MC cable. 2 hots, a neutral, and a ground. Romex is for that residential BS dawg.
