This worked for me well here a couple of years ago so let's try it again. I picked up the damn Windows Vista Security rogue virus 2012 today and cannot fucking get rid of it. Followed online guidlines with no success and I still have no access to any programs. I have a laptop to get me by but i need to get that desktop back online. In leiu of taking a hammer and beating the tower into small pieces I thought i would go here again. Any one of you computer whizzes want to earn a few bucks and fix this for me? I live downtown and have cash in hand. I really don't want to take it to Staples even though I have plenty of Rewards credit.

this will take at least 2 hours. good luck finding anyone to charge you less than $100/hr and NOT steal your data leave you with a root kit.

Thanks for the good luck as it appears it worked. Got somebody coming over and garaunteeing it for $50 bucks. Side money is a beautiful thing. As far as stealing my data.....Hahahahahahahaha....take it, I don't give a shit!

are you fucking high? my buddy fixed this same problem for me in 20 minutes. unless you're including finishing up with a full-system virus scan, this takes nowhere near that long to resolve.

Like someone else said earlier, run ComboFix...15 minutes later you'll be virus free

A couple variants of this virus mess with the file associations in the registry and even after removal you won't be able to launch any programs, if that's the case run this registry fix http://www.dougknox.com/xp/fileassoc/xp_exe_fix.zip

The whole process takes 20 minutes tops
