If you tutor, are you interested in setting up a shared blacklist to avoid having your time wasted?

Bitch set up appointments with multiple tutors and canceled at 8pm for a 9am appointment the next day. If she was going to pull this shit, you think she'd at least not mention that she'd already set up an appointment with another tutor.

clearly she's just looking for a tutor she's okay with putting out for in exchange for free, 24/7 help with her homework. you being female means a no-go

It was obvious from way before she made the appointment that I was female, so that's not it. The messed up thing is this woman is in marketing and used her work email when she was doing this. Creating a great image for your company right there.

I used to tutor for NCSU. This stuff happened all the time, and if students pulled that crap enough they would be denied use of the service.

Yeah I've had this happen a lot. I was tutoring one woman for awhile and then one week she didn't show up. Figured she was sick or something but I never saw her again. The weird thing was she left a bunch of kind of expensive shit at my house and never came back to claim it. Guess I broke even lol.

I've had a couple people I've had to tell that I'm not making any more appointments for them until they pre-pay via paypal. Never heard from any of them again.

I tutor elementary/middle school kids, their parents don't let them cancel

I tutored while I was knocking out my final pre-reqs at NCCU, and I'll never do that again. The girl didn't
prepare for her sessions, if she showed up at all, and the final straw was when her parents called the student help office to ask why I didn't show up.

I promptly got their number and explained the truth about Princess. Never heard from her again.

Bastard dog of one of my students chewed up my messenger bag.

I'm going to tell them they have to meet me at the library from now on, and add to my tutoring agreement that parents are responsible for replacing anything of mine that's messed up while at their residence. I have a lot of parents that are great and would gladly pay to replace my bag, but I seriously doubt they'd offer.

why did you let their dog eat your bag? shouldn't you have had it with you? jesus it's always someone elses fault.

Put bag on the back of the chair. Dog pulled off chair and started chewing. It only takes a couple seconds for a terrier puppy to completely destroy something.

I am there to tutor, and I can't do that if I am having to watch their dog constantly. This dog needs 10x more exercise than it gets, and is poorly trained. This is just the latest incident with them. If it was just the bag I wouldn't care.

hmm. in that case I would definitely press the family to replace the bag.

Not worth trying to get them to replace the bag (I might just put reflective tape over the hole in the bottom for now), I just don't want the same thing happening to my $200 motorcycle jacket, or my phone. I'm super lucky it was the bag, since it's the cheapest thing I had with me (except for the pencils and worksheets).

Honestly, I think I would do more good for the kid and the dog by making them both jog for an hour. Sadly I can't do that.
