So over the past month or so I've noticed an increasing number of stretch marks on my upper inner thighs and basically out to the outer thigh. Can this be from sitting? I've got dat 110% desk job. I haven't put on any weight since I started work though exercise has been scarce now that im into my third month of 70+ hour weeks (at 52 for this week already if you count Sunday evening work )
What can I do about it?

You've got the AIDS
For reals though, stretch marks are mostly genetic and while they can be minimized will never go away completely once you have them. 1/18/2012 8:32:23 PM |

I guess you could try to get a tan?
Probably not a lot you can do about it. You could stay active to retain what muscle mass you have but you're still sitting on your ass over eight hours a day. 1/18/2012 9:18:55 PM |

Good news is they the laser hair places usually can fix stretch marks by melting the muscle with extreme heat.
Sounds delightful, doesn't it? 1/18/2012 9:47:23 PM |

You can help stretch marks by moisturizing your skin. It's too late to reverse the ones you have but you can help to keep them from looking worse by applying lotion to your skin. Cocoa butter is said to be "the best" (last I heard anyway) but I'm not too fond of the smell as I feel like its too sweet smelling like I just walked out of a Banana Boat ad 1/19/2012 8:00:27 AM |

I've got something from palmer's cocoa butter that has almost no smell to it, massage lotion for stretch marks. My hips are a war zone from when I went off my meds. 1/19/2012 9:05:03 AM |

Supposedly creams with vitamin E help reduce them but those studies are pretty iffy from what I understand.1/19/2012 9:58:21 AM |

I had decent luck with Scarderma. It's not really meant for stretch marks but it helped out with some stretch marks located near where I had a surgical scar. 1/19/2012 10:14:32 AM |

I'm trying to remember where I used to buy the stuff. I think I usually got it from the pharmacy across the street from Rex Hospital. They carry a lot of post-surgical stuff places like CVS doesn't. 1/19/2012 10:28:00 AM |

I've used all the products and I have to say they are all gimmick products. I didn't observe even a slight 1% change after using it daily for 3 months.
I'd have to agree with the government on this one:
"According to Medline Plus, there are creams and ointments that claim to help fade stretch marks, but the U.S. government says they are of "little value."

I believe the only real and logical solution that can reduce the appearance of stretchmarks is through topical surgery. 1/19/2012 1:42:14 PM |

I don't know about stretch marks, but the Mederma silicon gel to reduce scars works. The plastic surgeon gave us medical grade stuff that is similar to use on my son's cleft lip scar and it really made a difference. 1/19/2012 2:38:46 PM |
