from 0-10, and be prepared to post evidence if claiming over a 7.
I fluctuate between a 1.5 and 2. Alcohol makes that number go down. 1/23/2012 10:21:38 AM

Probably a four or so. I'm not a great singer, but I can carry a tune, and I know my range. I'm mostly just loud though. I wish I could harmonize, but I can't "hear" what the notes should be. 1/23/2012 10:25:49 AM

in high school i would say 7'ish...
i was a member of both a national award winning chorus and vocal ensemble...
however...too many drunken nights that lasted WAY too long over the last 15 years put a severe strain on my voice...
i'm probably closer to a 3-4 now...
i can still sing in tune...but i can't hit notes that any girl should be able to...i have to sing nearly a full octave lower to be able to hit even the most basic notes... 1/23/2012 10:27:48 AM

4-5. my vocal talent isn't that great but understanding things like rhythm, intonation, and phrasing, make me sound less amateur than I am. It doesn't help I'm in that weird half alto half tenor range. 1/23/2012 10:28:38 AM

I'm trying to learn how to not sound cacophonous. When people are "naturals" or whatever, are they basically hearing a progression of say C D Em G and singing notes in C D Em G or are they singing notes that just go well with the chords similar to improvising a guitar solo?
Did any of that even make sense? I AM NOT GOOD WITH COMPUTER MUSIC. 1/23/2012 10:32:14 AM

a solid 6.5 if i stay in my range and the correct type of music, I can sing country very well but I will never be the lead singer of a death metal band. 1/23/2012 11:02:56 AM

I am the lead singer of a death metal band
so where does that put me, 0? on the other hand, the power and muscle control I've developed from doing that for years has actually made my operatic (baritone, methinks) quite solid. really only lacking in extended range, the upper registers of which having been virtually destroyed by the style that developed it in the first place . I'd put it at a solid 7 1/23/2012 11:21:06 AM

Buffet you do realize we made chinese immigrants build the transcontinental railroad for shitty money and then told them they can't stay, right?

awful, but i can whistle and hum excellently
i was in chorus in 4th/5th grade, and even had a solo though. which is bizarre now that i think about it, because i have a speech impediment and was even in speech therapy during those grades. makes you wonder if they did that on purpose for their own amusement

Same here. Chorus my entire life (Middle & High School), did all county chorus a few years (High School), even did some solos in those days.
Too much drinking, smoking. and generally not practicing singing to be very good any more.
Can still sing well within a range, but that range has narrowed tremendously
