Such a dick move. I can't imagine how devastated that guy has to be. I guess I can kinda understand where they are coming from doing it, but still, you can't do that to a guy.

It's a business. Who cares? It's probably why they are about to win their fourth super bowl in 12 years.

It's a business with a very public face and a de facto American holiday celebrated once a year.

from his wiki

Quote :
"On August 29, 2011, Underwood signed with the New England Patriots. On September 3, five days after signing with Patriots, Underwood was cut. On November 8, 2011, Underwood was signed to the 53 man roster to boost a beleaguered kick return squad. He was released on November 12[5] and re-signed on November 23, 2011. On February 4, 2012, the night before Super Bowl XLVI, Underwood was released."

wonder if Yahoo did stories the other times this no-name got signed and released by the Pats

cut a shitty WR, bring up a defensive end from the practice squad, activate Ochocinco

sounds like a smart football move, especially with Gronk at 75%

There's not a rule against this. Therefore, it's perfectly acceptable and should be encouraged when appropriate and justified. The other thing to consider is that the exact terms of this are just the NFL machinations at work; if this were the Stanley Cup Final, he'd be a healthy scratch, wouldn't play, and wouldn't be paid, but he also wouldn't be "cut."

We're not talking about a factory worker who's being thrown out the day before Christmas to avoid giving him the $300 that'll feed his family for the holidays. We're talking about a guy who gets paid $25,000 a game to stand on the sideline and is being replaced by a more appropriate player.
