On the one hand, I kind of want one of those things. On the other hand, my $30 thermostat works just fine. 2/6/2012 8:01:52 PM

We no longer use the potentiometer but the schema is so embeded in our concept of how things work we jump with glee at pointless digital revisions

I, for one, am not all that picky about the temperature of whatever room I am in. 2/6/2012 8:15:28 PM

I like the make-it-stay-off-during-the-day stuff, but I guess there are other thermostats that do that and are somewhat cheaper
stay off during the day but get the temp back to comfortable before I get home I mean

nests are kinda neat. Briefly considered one when we replaced ours but the learning factor is really more a novelty since you can get all the functionality you need with a nice programmable thermostat. I also decided I didn't need the internet access. It's pretty though. 2/6/2012 9:39:33 PM

i didn't realize people adjusted their thermostats all that often.
it is very attractive, i'm sure some people will get it just for aesthetics 2/6/2012 9:44:20 PM

Other than its "The Sharper Image" styling and appeal to that crowd I don't see the point. You can easily get the same functionality out of a programmable thermostat. I think seeing this in someone's home would be a good sign that they're the kind of person with whom I don't care to associate. 2/6/2012 9:49:22 PM
