It's actually kind of interesting. It's not property that was owned by the owner of the closed business. Seems sort of like if you had left your wallet in there and the building's owner told you that no, you can't come get your wallet.

Theft charges will be dropped or he'll be found not guilty. No way charges are going to stick unless the restaurant owner shows proof of ownership (which isn't going to happen). The B&E might stick, but it'll probably be plead down to something very minor.

In the mean time people involved need to learn to work better together and/or hold their fucking horses. If they had given the dude his shit back in a timely manner and this could have been avoided.
