I wish we didn't have the super bright lights in our office, or I wish we had the ability to turn them off without turning off EVERYONE'S lights

I'd love to use a lamp at my desk. I get crazy headaches all the time because of those lights

I'd prefer to keep them off. But here, light on/off tells people whether you're here. So I turn on the light closest to the door and keep the one right over my head off.

I keep the lights off in my office because I get good natural light. I have been doing it for 5 years now, since I joined the job. No one else does it... they close the blinds and turn on the white lights on the ceiling

However, what really pisses me off is when a colleague would come to my office for whatever reason, and either:

1) Ask why the lights are off, and/or
2) Just proceed to turn the lights on without asking me
