KUNOICHI - In Japanese, literally translated to "Nine and One". The meaning for this name is derived from the number of orifices on a female body. A male has nine, a female has one more (vaginal opening) and possesses the skills to make use of this orifice as well.





The kunoichi is trained differently than the male ninja. Their training teaches them to use their gender as an advantage, using poisons and hensojutsu (disguise/impersonation), and of course, the deadly art of shurikenjutsu. They can throw metal chopsticks, nails, and small knives with lethal precision and they can easily hide them in plain sight. (In their hair they can place chopsticks as decorative hair ornaments holding together a little bun, but can also be very deadly in the hands of the kunoichi.)

Kunoichi were

taught the arts of dancing, singing, musical instruments, and the tea ceremony to aid them in getting close to their targets.




An important kunoichi weapon was the Nekote (steel claws that were put on the fingers. See picture below.). Generally the kunoichi's physical skills were used as a last resort or in self-defense, and those skills were most effective in combination with psychological warfare or in a surprise attack.
