i played music for my dog and my parents' dog when they were puppies. nothing in particular, just some noise to make them feel as if they weren't alone at night or during the day. i don't do that anymore though.

If I ever get any pets, they will definitely be listening to metal. Leave BTBAM on for them.

My dog listens to BTBAM and other metal with me in the car. I don't usually leave something on for him though. I'm sure he sleeps about 95% of the time we are not home. He's a champ at that.

she's never really reacted to music except once. Was watching an episode of homeland and claire daines put on some miles davis. The high pitched trumpet freaked her out. she started crying and howling

i leave NPR on after i come home for lunch and leave again, since it's usually another 6-7 hours before i'm back again...i don't know that it does anything, but i tell myself the noise dissuades my wife's dog from chewing up paper (which she does only rarely, usually if we haven't taken them on a walk or to the dog park in a couple of days)

I also like to sing to my dog by replacing all of the lyrics to whatever song is on with his name. It's pretty fun to do but you also sound like an idiot.

Why would you want to let your dog listen to NPR?? Do you plan on debating the merits of the GOP candidates or the Presidents economic policy with them?

Hahaha I sing to my cat too and change the words. Glad it's not just me.

Yes I leave music on for her but only when I away for more than 1 night. I switch it up for her: classical, top 40, country, rock etc but her most favorite is foo fighters. When I play foo she stops what she's doing and lies in the middle of the floor & just chills out.

Sometimes I leave the tv on, but I know I get tired of hearing the tv when I'm not watching it. I figure my dogs would get tired of noise too.

I oughta get a raven

and play "Earth" by Imogen Heap on repeat for like a year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYG3svfvJ_I

and then the raven will keep saying "baby behave we'll make it work"

until the chance to fly away presents itself

and then the raven will forever caw out "Nevermore!"
