Is there anyway you can get out of a DWI? How long do you lose your license for? Is it always 1 year, or can you lose it for less time? Anybody know a good lawyer? I know someone who was pulled and I can't have them losing their license.

I just need everyone to show up, so my team can restrain the other team from the goal we are defending. I can't have starters missing the game.

You're lucky only to be dealing with a DWI. If the cops had realized you were in the process of stalking someone when they pulled you, then you'd really be in trouble.

One year minimum, though you can be granted driving privileges for work, school, errands during certain hours.

^What about recreational activities? What if you get caught driving near the Soccer Center in North Raleigh when you actually live in Apex? There are banks and grocery stores up there too.

Really, how do they determine where you can drive on a restricted licence? What if Lowes is farther away than Food Lion, but you like Lowes?

You don't need lowes.

And its entirely up to the judge who signs off on it and probably how much leniency a particular cop is willing to give you.

I guess it's too late to page Jett Gaither for some drunk driving tips.

Ok, seriously...pay the price and never do it again.

I know someone that got a DWI, they kept their license so they could go to work and grocery shopping but nothing else. A decent lawyer should be able to get your friend at least that. It'll probably cost a pretty penny though.

dude...he can easily get his court date continued through the duration of soccer season....

he'll lose it for 30 days automatically (20 of those with limited driving privileges)...then get it back with no restrictions until his court date...

with a .09 he might get out of it altogether though...doubtful but possible

[Edited on March 2, 2012 at 9:47 PM. Reason : ^that's pretty standard...it doesn't take anything special to get that...just a note from your boss]

Depends on how pissy the DA is on your court dates. But 2-3 continuances should be no problem

He gonna have to spend at least $1,750 on a lawyer, probably more though. Get it continued through soccer season. Go before a judge after a few continuances. Pray for mercy. Profit?

don't waste your money on a lawyer if you know you're guilty

Just go in front of the judge and say you know what you did was wrong, you had a temporary lapse of judgment, you pressed your luck and you lost, you won't do it again, and you're ready for your punishment to redeem yourself in society.

Please tell me this asshole isn't trying to circumvent the law so he can keep a ringer for his meaningless adult league* soccer team.

That's what I thought. If you have no experience, STFU.

Your advice would be great if we were living in a fictional southern town in 1954. Just remember, communism works in theory, too.

If you throw yourself on the mercy of the court, you will get the full sentence.

If you drop good lawyer money, you will get off.

With any half decent DUI lawyer, as long as you didn't do anything serious like wreck or hit someone, they can more than likely get it pleaded down to reckless driving.

Of course this will cost $3k+ for the lawyer

The fine will probably also be around $3k.

You will basically have all the same shit to do as if you got a dui. Probation, DUI school, community service, but you wont have a DUI on your record.

whoa now, you probably wont get off, I'd say 90% of the time you're going to be found guilty, but its not black and white.

theres five levels of dwi and the justice system is busy as shit. if you just go up there and say guilty they arent going to waste time trying to be nice, it'll be the worst they can give you. a lwayer goes a long way in working the system to get you the lightest level possible, getting you a limited priveledge as quick as possible, no community service, least amount of treatment hours etc. and just the peace of mind of having someone that knows what they are doing walking you through the process

it goes a long way and in the end saves you more money than you spend on a lawyer

Yes, I suppose saying "get off" was kind of flippant.

But you'll do a hell of a lot better than you will walking up to the judge and pleading guilty.
