I thought the only on campus options were dorms aside from Wolf Village which is only for upperclassmen. 3/4/2012 9:07:23 PM |

University Towers is the only freshman option that is not on campus as far as I know, unless you come in very late, and they don't have rooms left. 3/4/2012 9:11:20 PM |

Living at Avery Close was exciting. I got to watch couples fight in the parking lot, there was an armed robbery in the lot (and numerous on avent ferry), a bunch of people got hit by cars or buses out front while I lived there, and huge groups of indians would stay up til 4am in the parking lot taking photos of each other kicking somebody in their ass.
So yeah, stay at Ivy Commons next door where I never had any problems besides the odd insect due to all the trees and so on in the complex (the parking there is not ass, the prices were reasonable and probably still are, the apartments are adequate).
But really, first year? Stay in the dorms and you'll find out where the parties are and make a lot of friends (since you seem to be outgoing and not a cave troll such as myself). Just uh... I would recommend picking a suite style dorm because you have more control over the bathroom. This sounds dumb, but when you walk from the ass end of Owen to the other end of Owen to use the bathroom you will wish you were in a suite. It's also nicer because you'll get to know your suitemates better.
Also, limit the information you post on your tdub user profile and don't just go telling people on the interbutts where you live in your exuberance to meet new folks. 3/5/2012 12:20:00 AM |

1. Stay in the dorms (UT if you wanna be fancy)
2. Don't put your real name in your profile. 3/5/2012 10:40:18 AM |

are you that thick? STAY IN A DORM. I get it, high school senior too cool for the dorms, yeh yeh yeh. If you want to meet people, party, and have a good time your first year, then stay on campus. Sure, there are exceptions, but most people love living on campus for their first year just because they get to meet so many people. Staying in an apartment will not afford you the same meet and greet opportunities. And don't pick UT; it's an overpriced POS.

^^^ If's an off-campus apartment so as long as you have money I don't see why not.

How so? Nice, large rooms and way better food than campus.

That's it. The rest are university dorms.

the rooms aren't that much larger than many on campus rooms. it is overpriced staying on campus in campus dorms provides many more meet & greets the food is pretty much the same as on campus several campus dorms are much nicer than UT, unless UT has been remodeled recently. 3/5/2012 11:47:03 AM |

None of this is true, except for the last one maybe. I haven't been to every dorm on campus.

I lived in Wood Hall... it was a little bit of a walk to most classes, but it was also closer to mission valley and the rooms are nice and big, plus it's suite-style. 3/5/2012 12:39:19 PM |

I lived in UT for 2 years and I loved it - big rooms, suite style (only share a bathroom with 3 other people), dining hall on the top floor was good, lots of activities and opportunities to meet people, and they had a pool and sand volleyball court.
But it does fill up fast, so reserve a spot ASAP if you're interested.
Regardless, you want to live in a dorm (on campus or UT). TRUST US. ] 3/5/2012 2:06:10 PM |

Stay in the dorms. That's easily my biggest mistake in college. Pretty much didn't socialize with anyone on campus the last couple years.

^^^I had a shit room at Wood. The one right next to the lounge. It was tiny as fuck IMO. AFC after that FTW and sharing the bathroom with only my roommate. 3/5/2012 2:16:58 PM |

I lived in Avent Ferry my first two years and even that was too far away, really. Try to get into Bragaw or if you want to meet a ton of people Tucker, Owen, or tri-towers. You will regret it if you live off campus. 3/5/2012 2:37:01 PM |

+1 for the dorms. Nothing like being able to wake up 15 min before class and still make it on time. And being able to go back to your room to hang out/play games/sleep in between classes is a huge plus. 3/6/2012 9:53:41 AM |
