http://www.alternet.org/drugs/154448/why_can’t_you_smoke_pot_because_lobbyists_are_getting_rich_off_of_the_war_on_drugs/

Quote :
"John Lovell is a lobbyist who makes a lot of money from making sure you can’t smoke a joint. That’s his job. He’s a lobbyist for the police unions in Sacramento, and he is a driving force behind grabbing Federal dollars to shut down the California marijuana industry. I’ll get to the evidence on this important story in a bit, but first, some context."

Republicans are making money off of marijuana to pay for their federal police force that battles the "war on terror." the only reason it's illegal is because they make more money off of it that way.

lol weed costs wayyyyyy^10 more to police than it brings any revenue for states/localities. what do you get out of prosecuting a person for weed? a couple hundred dollar fine, if that? the state spends money on arresting (or at least ticketing) the person, the administrative fees, the court costs, the time wasted with prosecutors, and if convicted to the full extent - lots of money incarcerating them and/or monitoring them.

then to say that Republicans have a money conspiracy against pot heads? you've got to be kidding me. one of NORML's biggest arguments is precisely that is waste of money, time and resources to police such a "victimless crime".

it's true that the extreme right may be vocally opposed to it, but it's in no way, shape or form a money making machine for the GOP, let alone the government.

this is coming from a Republican. come on man.

the companies that design, construct, supply and staff prisons make money on people imprisoned for non-violent drug offenses

proof that you're "cracking down" and thus more federal subsidies.
