If you are a fan of FM Talk 101.1, you’re probably surprised and more than a little disappointed in what you’re hearing on your radio right now. The radio station you have come to love over the past eight years is gone. FM Talk 101.1, like so many good, local businesses, succumbed to the challenging economy and, in particular, the softness in the advertising market, and its format of news, topical talk and sports will soon give way to a new radio sound we feel has more potential for community service and long-term profitability.

FM Talk 101.1 was a radio pioneer in many ways. We were the among the very first commercial stations in North Carolina to offer a full complement of talk shows on the FM band, the first to offer a voice to all sides of the political argument (not just one) and the first to inform and entertain both the Triad and the Triangle at the same time. While we were successful by any number of standards, the advertising slowdown of the last four years—combined with the entry of new talk radio competitors—made a business model we created in 2003 no longer sustainable. There is some good news, however. Many of the shows you’ve come to love—or even dislike—on FM Talk 101.1 can now be heard on other Curtis Media Stations. If you live in the Triad, tune to WSJS--600 on the AM band. In the Triangle, your favorite WZTK programs are now on AM 850. Or simply continue to listen on your computer, SmartPhone or tablet.

All of us at Curtis Media Group thank you for listening to FM Talk 101.1 and your patronage of our fine sponsors. We also acknowledge the extraordinary team of broadcast professionals and journalists who toiled every day to make FM Talk 101.1 WZTK a point of pride for our entire organization and local broadcasters everywhere. Don’t forget you can still hear Neal Boortz, Clark Howard, Brad & Britt and other FM Talk 101.1 programs, on AM 600 WSJS and TalkRadio 850 WPTF. "

your post is obvious in its censoring, sanctioning, and attempt to silence Micheal Savage. You are a homosexual and a pervert and also a lover of Marxists.

too many people have too many opinions as to what "shitty music" consists of.

so no matter what the format is, someone will call it shit. The idea is to get the fewest amount of people to call it shit. In that sense, you target towards large audiences, teens, and families.

So, it'll probably be another Rock station that plays the same 14 songs in a loop.

That said, I'd love a 50's-60's channel.

I listened to it a ton during HS. Was surprised to hear it went to talk when I found out sometime later.

It's about time for Brad & Britt in the morning afternoon (3pm-7pm)! I'm curious to hear what their show is like now that it appears as though they've lost all of their ABC connections.

Hopefully it won't be as bad as 96.9. I'm not sure they are even aware that there are more genres than just Ranchera and Norteña.

Hopefully they play some Salsa/Merengue/Bachata.

Brad and Britt could be pretty funny. I would listen to that in the morning, then when I'd get in my car at night it'd be Michael Savage. I'd listen to that for about 2 minutes before getting pissed off. Luckily, my replacement AM/FM transmitter I ordered last week arrives today, so I'm done with radio for a while.
