I was looking at catering by design or rocky top catering, but wanted to know if I could find somewhere a little cheaper. Looking for buffet style to feed about 50-75 people. Catered food from a restaurant would be cheaper, but I'd need to outsource the wait staff/bartending services which I can do if the price is right.

Let me know if any of you work for, own, or know of any affordable catering places or some cheap options. Thanks!

have you considered who you will hire for your wedding video?

user JBaz and I have been doing wedding videography

since we're just getting started you can get a really good price
but we aren't getting started with video - Baz has worked as a commercial photographer in Miami and LA and I got a MA in Media Studies from a school in NYC and have done a bunch of documentary work

we shoot on DSLRs (Canon 5D and Canon T3i) and record sound separately for the best quality

so you'll get low end prices for a high end product

please PM me if you're interested

wolfpackgrrr and I used Catering by Design for our wedding.

I worked for 10 years at the restaurant he bought and then turned into a catering facility.

Without a doubt he is one of the best caterers in the area.

Our wedding menu was fantastic. One thing I had requested during the cocktail hour was a nacho bar. It was great! They brought enough chips and toppings for 150 people and our 55 guests ate everything.

I highly recommend him and would be glad to talk at length over pm.

^considered....wonder how long the Dorito Tacos will be around??

^^ Looked into these guys as well...they look exceptional, we have actually talked to the owner at a bridal show. Looks like a great place, but with that comes a price at the higher end of our budget

^^^Thanks for the offer, but we aren't looking for a videographer and already have a photographer...BUT pm me your info because i work for a non-profit that may be interested in your services.

Does not compute. It sounds like it was chips and toppings for 55 people.

I've had Torrero's do this for my work and they do a fine job for cheap.

The wife and I used Catering by Design for our wedding in October. Greg isn't just a caterer, he's also a wedding planner and coordinator all rolled into one. He handled everything personally- he even manned the carving station himself. The food is five star and after doing extensive research before hiring him and his team he knows more about weddings in this area than anyone else. He's also a super nice guy and a straight shooter - he's completely honest about everything including price. If there's any way you can afford it, go with them. At least give him a call and see if he can be flexible and work something out for you. You <should> only get one wedding - don't cheap out and regret it! His staff did a great job bartending too. We rented a hall so we brought in all our own booze beer and wine (and all the other stuff) and they took care of everything else.

I saw this today on living social. I would have totally done this for my wedding! Includes an open bar, DJ, AND 7 course meal.

My sister went to Chamas Curriscuria sp? in Brightleaf square. It is a Brazilian Steakhouse. They got the whole restaurant for 3.5 hours for free with a min. 100 guess commitment. I know there final bill for drinks, salad bar, 6 meats, wedding cake, + tip was in the 2300 range. I was SO jealous because it was so good for so cheap. (I paid so much more)

One thing he does that I appreciate is he doesn't charge you a stupid corking fee for bringing in your own liquor unless the venue requires him to.
