Yo Gilbert, i dig mane
I know how it feel to wake up fucked up, pockets broke as hell, another rock to sell...etc I can relate in a sense (pharmaceutical sales rep)
What are y'all mugs' favorite Biggie lyrics then? i reckon this is a valid old school topic due to that ready to die mug dropping while we were all old enough to have CD players at the beginning...and these new mugs were probably in utero... 3/21/2012 11:11:45 PM |

i dont approve of the user, but Juicy is a seminal white suburban kid hiphop entree. I remember when Ready to Die came out, and like The Chronic and other major label hip hop albums at the time, gave me a visceral visibility into a world that as a white, male, suburban, middle class kid, I had no idea existed, both the positive and the negative. It wasn't until I got into college and Napster hit that I was able to go back and become an obnoxious backpacker and revisit/relearn so much of what I had missed growing up and fall in love with hip hop all over again.
So, I think the thread is appropriately old school. The OP is kind of annoying though.

I heard about Ready to die as a white kid playing hoop at a predominately black gym in Hickory.
Highland Ave represent mane.
If you had game in the 828 you played at Highland...and you could get school help there too...they provided tutors at the time...i believe its now closed.
too fucking bad. 4/15/2012 10:16:31 PM |

Ready to Die is a true classic, in the same vein as The Chronic, Doggystyle, and All Eyez on Me.
It was just confusing to me, being 11-12 years old, and bumping it through the speakers of the 486 computer we had downstairs.
